About Savannah River Academy
Who we are:
Savannah River Academy was created by a group of passionate parents, teachers, and administrators who believed that our area needed another option for education. What began as a dream quickly became an enthusiastically supported and welcomed educational experience.
Savannah River Academy goes beyond traditional education, combining evidence-based instruction with hands-on learning. We foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning, empowering students to grow with confidence and curiosity.
What we are:
Savannah River Academy was created to be intentionally different. As a non-sectarian, fully accredited private school, we emphasize a collaborative approach between parents and teachers while prioritizing a balanced, research-based education that allows kids to be kids.
Following current research, students in lower grades receive little to no homework, with a gradual increase as they grow. We also offer a specialized dyslexia program led by experienced Orton-Gillingham-trained teachers. If your child has been diagnosed with dyslexia or you would like to learn more about dyslexia screening, please contact us for more information.
Our Unique Schedule:
At Savannah River Academy, we believe that learning should be engaging, purposeful, and intentional. Our schedule is designed to maximize focused instruction in the mornings while offering opportunities for enrichment and exploration in the afternoons.
- Core classes occur primarily in the morning, from 8:30 AM – 12:40 PM, Monday through Thursday. Students learn best in the morning!
- Fridays extend learning beyond the classroom with hands-on experiences such as field trips, STEM challenges, and community service projects. Fridays are required for middle school and are encouraged for all other students.
- SPARC (Special Programs After Regular Classes) provides a mix of academic reinforcement, hands-on enrichment, and specialized classes such as art, music, PE, and Spanish from 1:15–3:30.
- Students in the preschool-kindergarten have the option to attend a part-day program, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30-1:00.
Where we are:
The 2020-2021 school year was our first year at our newly purchased campus at 213 S. Old Belair Road in Grovetown!
